Earlier this week we experienced the first big snowstorm of the New Year. My daughter and I work in Miamisburg and carpool every day to work. We normally travel into West Carrollton and take the Big Alex Rd High to get to work. As we left that day travel was slow but we made it through the snow and ice. As we approached the hill we felt confident as Miamisburg always turns their lights on that hill to flashing as it’s dangerous to stop with bad weather. As we ascended the hill we noticed for some reason the light were not changed and were still on normal cycle. Alas we got a red light and had to stop about ¾ up the hill. As the light changed we along with 12 or so other cars proceeded to go nowhere. All tires just spun....
No one could go forward or reverse and the incline was too steep to have someone stand behind a car to push. Everyone was stranded. We even saw an RTA bus stop behind us and got blocked in by stuck vehicles. We all sat and watched as finally a salt truck came by and laid salt on the northbound side but could not help us as it could not enter the southbound side due to the gathering of stuck cars. All we could do was just wait. A Police officer from Miamisburg even came by and stated there was nothing he could do. What a wasted opportunity for the police to assist considering the current Police/community relations going on in this country. We just had to wait.
Finally after about an hour wait we saw an individual walking and carrying a bucket with salt. He ended up going one by one and salt under each car to allow each to make it out and up the hill. We found out later he was from the neighborhood and came to save his wife who was in the group ahead of us. He stated he helped her and thought he would just help the rest of us since he was there. We felt there was some divine intervention to allow this man to come help and decide to help the rest of us. This man was a receptacle of God’s Grace .
